Gujarat Possession Certificate

Possession certificate is an important property related document held by every property owner.So the legal possession of the property by the owner is valid only with a possession certificate. Possession certificate contains the details of the possession date of the property hence it is used to claim one’s right to a particular land/property. Further, possession certificate is mandatory to secure a loan. In this article, we look at the procedure to obtain Gujarat possession certificate in detail.

Eligibility Criteria

Gujarat Possession Certificate will be granted, only if there is no dispute regarding its ownership and the concerned land should not Gujarat Government land or assigned land belonging to the Government.

Prescribed Authority

Revenue Department, Government of Gujarat issues possession certificate. The prescribed authority for issuance of Possession certificate is Tahsildar for rural areas and RDO in urban areas.

Time Frame

Gujarat possession certificate will be issued within seven days from the date of application.

Documents required for obtaining possession certificate in Gujarat is listed as follows:

  • Ration Card
  • Income Certificate
  • Passport size photograph

Applying for Possession through e-Dhara Kendra

Procedure to apply for possession through e-Dhara Kendra is explained in detail below.

Approach e-Dhara Kendra

Step 1: Before applying for possession, complete the registration process of property & get the sale deed from concerned authority. The applicant needs to approach the nearest e-Dhara Kendra

Submit an Application

Step 2: The applicant has to submit an application in the prescribed format for possession certificate at e-Dhara Kendra. Provide the following details in the application form

  • Document details such as House number, Door Number, Address, Age, Extents
  • Ration card and Aadhaar card number
  • Informant details such as relation, mobile number, and email ID
  • Information related to house boundaries

Note: Mention the mode of delivery of possession certificate.

Step 3: Submit all required documents (refer above) to the e-Dhara Kendra service operator. The request for Gujarat possession certificate will be forwarded online to the concerned authority, i.e., Tahsildar for rural areas & RDO for urban areas.

Note: e-Dhara Kendra service operator will issue a receipt with the possession application number. Application number will also be sent to the registered mail ID and mobile number. Keep it safe for future reference.

Gujarat Possession Certificate Processing

Step 4: The concerned authority, Tahsildar/RDO, will process the possession certificate request online.

Field visit by Officer

Step 5: After downloading all verification and Proceeding documents, the concerned authority will conduct a field-level inquiry. After inquiry, Tahsildar/RDO will take action for issuing possession certificate.

Application Status

 Possession certificate application status will be updated through SMS. The applicant can also track application status from e-Dhara Kendra.

Verify Possession Document

Once the applicant’s possession request is accepted, an SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number as the application has been approved. By visiting e-Dhara Kendra, you can verify the possession document. In case any mistake found, contact e-Dhara Kendra operator for correcting.

Get Gujarat Possession certificate

After field verification, if the concerned authority approves the request for possession certificate,  possession certificate will be dispatched through courier from e-Dhara Kendra franchisee to applicant’s address if the Delivery Type is Speed Post Local or Non-Local.

If the delivery type is Manual, then the applicant has to collect the possession certificate from e-Dhara Kendra where he/she has applied for the possession certificate.
